How are CRP Entzündung and fertility related?

CRP (C-reactive protein) is a non-specific marker of inflammation. Chronically elevated CRP levels may indicate systemic inflammation that can impair fertility – in women by disrupting ovulation or implantation (linked to endometriosis, PCOS), in men by reducing sperm quality. However, CRP is not a direct fertility marker; the evidence comes from observational studies with moderate effect sizes. A normal CRP does not rule out fertility issues, and an elevated level alone is not causal. Lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, stress) influence both CRP and fertility. Clinical relevance is limited because CRP is not part of standard fertility workup. Caution against overinterpretation: a single high CRP does not warrant panic but should be discussed with a doctor. Evidence grade: moderate, mechanistic and observational.
