What role does tTG IgA play in Fruchtbarkeit?

tTG IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) is the primary serological screening marker for celiac disease. A positive tTG IgA test indicates possible gluten intolerance, which untreated is associated with fertility issues – both in women (prolonged time to pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage) and men (impaired sperm quality). Evidence comes from observational studies and meta-analyses showing increased celiac prevalence among those with unexplained infertility. Importantly, tTG IgA is not a direct fertility marker. A negative result does not fully rule out celiac (especially with IgA deficiency). A positive test requires gastroenterological follow-up with duodenal biopsy. A gluten-free diet can improve fertility in confirmed celiac patients. The test is useful as a screening tool but not diagnostic. Caveat: individual decisions should be guided by a physician.
