Is IgE Allergietest useful for Fruchtbarkeit?

From an evidence-based perspective, IgE allergy testing is not useful for assessing fertility. IgE tests (skin prick or specific IgE) are designed to diagnose type I allergies to inhalants, foods, or insect venoms. They measure sensitization, not clinical allergy. There is no established role for IgE testing in fertility workup. While some alternative practitioners suggest a link between allergies and infertility, the evidence is weak and inconsistent. Conditions like undiagnosed celiac disease or thyroid autoimmunity can affect fertility, but these require specific antibody tests (tTG-IgA, TPO antibodies), not general IgE panels. Using IgE tests for fertility is therefore best classified as marketing or unclear evidence. Patients should pursue standard fertility evaluation: hormonal profiling, ultrasound, and genetic counseling if indicated. IgE testing may only be relevant if the patient has clear allergic symptoms that impact quality of life.
