How are hsCRP and Blutzucker related?

HsCRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) is an inflammatory marker measured in blood. Elevated hsCRP is associated with systemic inflammation, which can impair insulin sensitivity and contribute to higher blood glucose levels (Blutzucker). Observational studies show a moderate association between hsCRP and the risk of type 2 diabetes, but the evidence is primarily human-observational (human-moderate). Clinical relevance is limited: hsCRP alone is not a reliable predictor of blood sugar issues; it should be interpreted alongside other risk factors (obesity, physical inactivity, diet). Genetic variants like rs1205 can slightly influence baseline CRP levels, but the effect is small. Caveat: Normal hsCRP does not rule out impaired glucose tolerance, and vice versa. For a thorough assessment, fasting glucose, HbA1c, and possibly an oral glucose tolerance test are needed.
